How To Do:

Before you kick-start with this kriya make sure you do it in the morning before your breakfast or couple of hours later after your dinner in the evening.

Step1: Find a quiet place; you can even choose your bedroom with only little-illuminated light in it. You can lit an incense stick for the mild aroma which will calm your mind.

Step 2: Sit on your yoga mat in Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose).

Step 3: While sitting on your mat, make sure that the top part of your feet and your shins are touching the floor. Sit on your heels and let your body relax.

Step 4: Move your buttocks toward the ground, such that you can rest it on the floor. Let your ankles touch the outer part of your hips.

Step 5: Keep your body, and breathing pattern relaxed while sitting up straight in the thunderbolt pose.

Step 6: The Sudarshan Kriya is a 3 step breathing cycle process, and it requires practice to perform it correctly.

Step 7: The first breathing cycle is called as Ujayi. It is a breathing process in which you have to breathe slowly with an equal amount of inhalation and exhalation per minute.

Step 8: The second breathing cycle is known as Bhastrika. Here, your breathing pattern should be short and quick enough. Increase your exhalations twice as compared to your inhalations. This cycle brings calmness to your body.

Step 9: In the third breathing cycle, your inhalations should be twice as that of exhalations. It should be performed in such a manner that it forms a rhythmic pattern which will allow you to have clarity in your vision and it purifies your breath.

This whole process of performing Sudarshan Kriya requires around 45 minutes. It can be practiced at any time of the day except after having your meal.
